Privacy Policy & Terms of Use

Thank you for using Fermento ("App", "Service"). This document explains how we handle your data, the permissions we request, and the terms of use of the App, including subscriptions and limitations of liability.

1. Data collection and usage

1.1. Personal data

The developer ("we") does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (such as your name, email, or phone number) to our own servers. The App works as a client-side tool; your data is processed and stored locally on your device.

1.2. Data used by the App

The App uses the following data locally:

  • Recipes and calculator inputs: Dough recipes, ingredient amounts, fermentation times, and settings you enter are stored on your device (e.g. in app storage or in files you save). We do not upload them.
  • Dough timer: If you set a "dough ready" notification, the scheduled time is stored locally to trigger the alarm. No such data is sent to us.
  • Battery temperature (optional): If you use the room temperature estimation feature, the App reads the device battery temperature once, on demand, to estimate ambient temperature. This value is not stored or transmitted; it is used only to suggest a value you may accept or reject.

1.3. Third-party services (ads)

The free version of the App may show advertisements via Google AdMob. AdMob may collect data (e.g. Advertising ID, device information) according to its own policy. Premium subscribers do not receive ads.

2. Permissions

The App may request:

  • Notifications: To show "dough ready" and optional shaping-reminder alerts even when the App is in the background.
  • Storage (or equivalent): To save, open, and share recipe files (e.g. export/import).
  • Optional: No camera or microphone is required. Battery temperature is read only when you tap the room-temperature estimation button; no special permission is required for that reading on standard Android.

3. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Important – please read carefully

Fermento is an informational and convenience tool, not a certified measuring device or professional food-safety or nutritional advice service. By using the App, you agree to the following.

3.1. General. Calculations (dough weights, hydration, yeast, water temperature, W value, pan dough mass, etc.) and the tutorial content are for guidance only. They are based on common formulas and practices and may not suit your ingredients, equipment, or environment. We do not guarantee accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose.

3.2. Dough, recipes, and food use. You are solely responsible for the preparation, storage, handling, and consumption of any dough or food made using or inspired by the App. The developer shall not be liable for any damage, illness, loss, or injury (including from under- or over-fermentation, contamination, improper storage, allergens, or misuse of recipes or timers) arising from the use of the App or reliance on its outputs. Always follow safe food-handling practices and use your own judgment.

3.3. Room temperature estimation. The optional feature that estimates room (ambient) temperature from the device battery temperature is an approximation only. It is not a calibrated measurement and depends heavily on device usage, charging state, and environment. Do not use it for critical decisions (e.g. food safety, medical, or industrial use). The developer shall not be liable for any consequences of using or relying on this estimate.

3.4. No warranty. The App is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties and shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App or reliance on any of its content or features.

4. Subscriptions and in-app purchases

The App may offer a Premium (ad-free) subscription via Google Play Billing. Payment and subscription data are processed by Google; we do not collect or store your payment details.

If you subscribe to Premium, the App will no longer display banner or interstitial ads. Subscription status is checked on your device via the Google Play Billing API. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Google Play account subscription settings. Uninstalling the App does not automatically cancel your subscription.

  • Subscriptions typically renew automatically unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Refunds are subject to Google Play's refund policy; requests must be submitted to Google.

5. Recipes, export, and sharing

You can save, open, and share recipe data (e.g. as files).

  • Saved and exported data stays on your device or in files you control; we do not receive or store them.
  • You are solely responsible for the content you save or share and for complying with applicable laws.

6. Data security

We do not store your data on our servers. No transmission or storage method is 100% secure. We do not guarantee absolute security, especially regarding third-party components (e.g. ad networks).

7. Children's privacy

We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data (e.g. via email), please contact us.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Please review this page periodically. Changes are effective when posted here.
